Mechanical adapters are used to attach the Proceptor® in-line sensor and housing assembly to customer's material processing pipelines, extruders or other equipment. A typical attachment of the standard 45 mm sensor assembly to an extruder is shown in the first figure.

Before the installation, the die was attached directly to the extruder. The die was removed from the extruder and the inlet adapter was installed in its place. The inlet adapter was designed on the left side to match the extruder and on the right side to match the standard 1.77 inch ID (45 mm) Proceptor sensor. To the inlet adapter was attached the sensor housing assembly and outlet adapter, and then the die was reinstalled. As shown in the figure, the standard sensor can be installed onto equipment which has a somewhat smaller inside diameter than the sensor. It can also be installed onto equipment of larger diameter, but for substantially smaller process equipment, contact the factory for a smaller sensor. Example drawings of adapters for the 45 mm sensor assembly are shown in the second figure.
