A two-piece steel housing assembly contains the Proceptor sensor, provides electrical connections and has four threaded holes in standard flange configuration on both sides for easy connection to the customer's extruder, transfer line or other equipment. The housing holds a transducer for measuring the temperature and pressure of the process material and a temperature sensor for controlling the heater.

Housing assemblies are currently available in 45 mm and 12 mm inside diameter sizes. Standard housing assemblies are rated for service at temperatures up to 350 C and pressures up to 20 MPa (3000 psi). Other sizes in the inside diameter range from 12 mm to 300 mm can be made to order.

CEP provides complete assistance in designing and building mechanical adapters to attach sensor housing assemblies to customer's extruders, transfer lines or other process equipment.

The first figure shows a cross section view the sensor and housing assembly.

The second figure is a photograph of a 45 mm housing assembly on a test stand with the heater band removed. The optional test stand has legs and a drain valve below and allows the sensor to be easily cleaned, filled and drained for laboratory measurements.
