Rheoceptor In-line Extruder Viscometer |
|
The customer's extruder is modified to include the measurement cam. This type was developed and used successfully for compounding applications in engineering polymers. Melt viscosity is critically important for molding resins. Those like glass filled Nylon are extremely abrasive and difficult to measure. The Rheoceptor can measure them. The cam is fitted with two lobes, so measurements at two shear rates are obtained.
A typical two-lobe cam for a single screw extruder. This cam replaces the original screw tip. An extra plate is added to the extruder to accommodate the cam and pressure transducer. For twin-screw extruders, a single cam is put on each screw and the two cams wipe each other to provide a self-cleaning action. | ||
