Rheoceptor In-line Gear Pump Viscometer

The customer's gear pump is modified to include the measurement cam. This type was developed and used successfully for textile fiber spinning applications. The great advantage of this design is that it is entirely non-invasive. The time-temperature history of the customer's polymer is unaffected by this viscometer. The cam is fitted with two lobes, so measurements at two shear rates are obtained.

A typical, cam-equipped gear pump for textile fiber work. The original pump has been modified to contain an additional plate below the pumping gears. The additional plate forms the cylindrical measurement cavity and accomodates the pressure transducer and cam.
